DAYBILLS

Daybills are a highly sought-after type of promotional movie poster used by cinemas in Australia to advertise new movie releases. The standard dimensions of this type of movie poster are 13” wide by 30” tall, or 330mm by 760mm, with older daybills sometimes being only 10” wide.

Daybills were traditionally printed using lithography until a shift in printing occurred in the 1970s to a glossy finish on thicker paper, similar to American film posters. Most daybills were folded two times before shipping to movie theatres, so the authenticity of an Australian cinema daybill can be assessed by verifying that it has two creases.
